The range of cuisine in Radovljica and its surroundings has long been regarded as top-quality and genuinely local.
Taste Radol'ca restaurants use locally-produced ingredients to create typical Gorenjska dishes. In the green woodlands and countryside healthy produce is grown, which talented chefs incorporate into exceptional dishes inspired by local tradition. Taste Radol'ca restaurants can be recognised by the sign on their entrances, whilst local dishes are marked in their menus by a small printed Radol'ca bee.
Taste Radol'ca chefs take their inspiration from the environment in which they grew up. In places the traditional method of preparation has been preserved, whilst elsewhere traditional dishes are given a make-over and are revived in a unique way.
PARTICIPATING RESTAURANTS AND INNS
Taste Radol'ca unites seven restaurants and inns in the Radol'ca area. They have vowed not only to take part in group promotions but also, above all, to co-operate and connect – amongst each other and with local producers.
OCTOBER - MONTH OF CULINARY EXPERIENCES
October is the month when Radol'ca comes alive with varied local experiences combining gastronomy, nature and tradition. Farm open days, guided bike tours, unique culinary experiences such as the Farmer's Table and sweet experiences such as Experience Chocolate Town offer visitors the chance to connect with local flavours and culture. The highlight of the month is the inaugural Local Menu Month Opening Dinner, where all seven Taste of Radol'ce chefs come together under one roof to create an unforgettable culinary experience.
Participating Taste Radol'ca restaurants offer dishes prepared using seasonal ingredients year-round. Every November they come together to produce special dishes and culinary events. At the opening event at the end of October the chefs and waiting staff unite to host an exceptional culinary experience.
Taste Radol'ca offers street food at selected events in Radovljica's old town centre. At July's concert evenings visitors can listen to music whilst enjoying tasty street food, as well as at the switching-on of the Christmas lights in December and other occasions.
For larger events themed culinary offers are prepared, such as in April for the Chocolate Festival, when chocolate-based menus are offered, and in September for the Honey Festival, when honey-based menus are available.
